Tabitha's Wishful Discovery...A preview of my short story book

Synopsis

A short children’s story about a friendship between a faerie princess who’s lost her way in life and a lost star that helps her through a journey to her destiny

Chapter I

There once was a faerie princess who loved being carefree and was always looking for some new adventure outside of the confines of the castle.  She was the most beautiful faerie on FaerieIsland, with eyes as green as the purest ocean waters and hair of golden curls that swayed in the wind as she ran.  She had a voice of the angels, she was an enchanting singer.
But for this princess, she was not like any ordinary faerie princess.  Who is she, you might ask? My name is Tabitha, Tabitha Goblinshimmer.  I live in the palace with my parents, my mother Trinity, the bringer of riches and wealth, and of course, my father Thomas, the protector of the lonely, whom were the Queen and King of Faerie Island.
I was always searching for a new adventure and on one particular day, decided to wander off outside of the Lands to the outskirts, and escape to my tree house in the forest.  This was where I had made a place for myself, to escape the hectic life of my royal family.  This was a place surrounded by tall trees and fields of flowers that covered the land as wide as far as you could see.
On this day, as I wandered to my home away from home, I had spotted a bright, sparkling light out near a cherry blossom tree.  “I wonder what that could be” I said as I walked towards the light.  With eyes filled with curiosity, I stood staring at what looked like a fallen star. “Oh, my, what have we here? Now, I wonder where it came from.”  As I knelt down beside the star, I gazed with amazement “It such a small little thing” Then scooped it up into the palms of my hand and smiled “Who are you, and how did you ever get way down here?”
The little star looked up at me with eyes as bright as the sun.  “My name is Rainbow Frost, and I have lost my way to the heavens.”  As a tear flowed down his cheek, he sniffled “I must find my way up there before nightfall or I will be lost forever” he said.  I could only sympathize with Rainbow Frost as I carried him up to my tree house, where I gently placed him down on the table and sat down.  “How is it may I be of help?”  I asked as I brushed off pieces of cherry blossom from my hair.

Chapter II

“I must travel over the SpiritMountains and across the Sea of Wistly and finally up to the peak of Mt SilverDance, then that is where my journey will finally end” said Rainbow Frost as his glow began to dim. “Oh, that will take all day to get there, I’m not sure I have the means to travel that far of a distance” I explained with surprisingly, a thought popped into my head as quickly sprang up to my feet “But I do know who might be able to help us get you there.” I ran to the one open window and called forth my best friend, Thorn HailGlitter.
Thorn HailGlitter was my best friend since we were just tiny sprites. He lived in a small part of FaerieIsland with his father, Lican HailGlitter, where they owned a wand shop. They made the supply of magical wands along with other objects for the all the towns people. He was also an adventurer, and usually, okay, always had to help get me out of the stickiest situations.
Thorn immediately heard my cry for help, and quickly dropped everything and flew to the tree house. He was the only other person who knew about my secret tree house, besides me. Flying as fast as his little wings could carry him.
He arrived and spotted a twinkling of a light that was shining through the window of the tree house. As he peered through the trees he began thinking to himself. “What had Tabitha gotten into now?” he thought “I hope she isn’t in some kind of trouble again.” He shook his head as he flew into the tree house.

Chapter III

Back at the palace, a very worrisome Queen Trinity paced the grounds back and forth “Now where has my little Tabitha gone to now?” As she raised a hand to her brow, she walked towards the window and shook her head “If only she would just stay put, I might not have to always send out the guards to retrieve her.”
At that very moment, King Thomas entered the chambers and placed a hand on her shoulders and placed a gentle kiss on the nape of her neck.  “My dear Trinity, she is always out to find and seek adventure outside our compounds, after all, she is only but seventeen, darling.” As she turned to face her beloved husband and King, she brushed a hand down the side of his cheek, and with a gentle smile she said “But does she always have to go off without any notice of her absence?”
“I’m sure she is quite able to handle herself” Thomas replied with a cheeky kiss “You mustn’t worry all too much, my dear” With that, King Thomas took Queen Trinity by the hand and led her downstairs and out to the garden.

Chapter IV

Time and time again, at this time of the year, the flowers were always at full bloom and the hummingbirds and creatures were singing in harmonious song as the sun shown bright above. Slowly, as they approached the entrance to the garden maze, King Thomas stopped and smiled slyly as he said to Queen Trinity, “My dearest Trinity, how you look so lovely as the day I first met you” He knelt down on one knee and kissed her hand. Trinity smiled shyly and nodded, “And my dear Thomas” she answered “You are more handsome than I could ever imagine.”
As King Thomas rose to his feet, he reached into his pocket and slowly took out a box and held it up to Queen Trinity. “My Queen, will you do me the honor and becoming my wife, once more?” Bowing his head, he awaited her answer. She could only stare at the wondrous ring that sparkled like the stars, gleaming in the night sky.
Gasping and tearing up, she replied “But of course, my dear Thomas, there is nothing more in the world than to take you as my loving husband” She smiled gaily as he slipped the perfect ring onto her finger.
“Forever and a lifetime do I imagine the perfect life, if only our daughter, Tabitha was here to rejoice in our happiness” Said Queen Trinity as she shook her head.  With a sweet and tight embrace, they kissed each other so deeply as if for the first time.  As they strolled amongst the high walls of the garden maze, Trinity still could not help but think what her sweet Tabitha was up to.

Chapter V

As Thorn entered the tree house, he quietly flew behind Tabitha and tapped her on the shoulder “Um, hey Tabby, whatcha doing?” He raised an eyebrow and points down at Rainbow Frost.  “And what might I ask is the reason it is so bright in here?” Startled and surprised, Tabitha held onto Rainbow Frost and jumped to her feet, swinging an arm and knocking Thorn in the head. “Oh, I’m so sorry, but have you not learned from past incidents, that is what you get for sneaking up on me like that…Hmmph!”
Rubbing his forehead, he brushed the pain away “It’s nothing, I have a hard head anyway” Peering with wide eyes, he couldn’t stop gazing at the little star. “This is not good, Tabby” As he stood firmly with his hands on his hips “Do you know, that you are holding a…” Stuttering for a moment “A s…star.”
Tabitha only nudged Thorn in the shoulder as she sat back down. “Of course, duh, I know that” She stuck out her tongue at him. “So, are you going to help me get him back up to the heavens or are you just going to stand there stuttering like a fool?” She raised an eyebrow as she place Rainbow Frost gently down on the table.
